UPDATE 14TH NOVEMBER 2002

* Islington teachers voted 71% in favour of strike action in LEA schools. *

On the day of the strike (26/11/02) there will be two main events:

9-10am there will be a lobby at the Town Hall in Upper Street. Jeremy Corbyn MP will speak for more info
10:30 am Assemble at Lincolns Inn Fields WC1 (Holborn Tube) for a march to The Kennington Oval.
Islington NASUWT, NUT and UNISON will march together and are meeting in the NE corner of the Field by the sculpture. for more info

Teachers in VA / VC schools (mostly church schools) who need more information should contact their secretary.

GMB/Apex and T&GWU have decided not to take action on that day.

* * * * * * * * UPDATE 30TH OCTOBER 2002 * * * * * * * * *

Members across London have voted to strike in favour of the London Weighting Claim. The first day of action will be Tuesday 26th November when NASUWT, NUT and UNISON members will all strike. We expect that all schools in Islington will be affected. For more info....

By now you should have completed the consultative ballot form and given it back to your school rep. Contact me asap if there has been any delay.

UPDATE 18th SEPTEMBER 2002

Ballot papers for a consultative ballot will arrive in London schools this week. The aim is to establish the strength of feeling with regard to the London Weighting Allowance and whether members will be prepared to take industrial action.
