Day of Action : 26th November 2002

NASUWT and NUT will take joint strike action and close Islington schools for the day in support for a claim for London Weighting Allowance (LWA) in line with the police (£6,000 pa). This is nowhere near sufficient to balance the extra costs of living in the capitol, but is a small step towards stemming the tide of teachers leaving London.

UNISON are concurrently taking action to increase their London weighting too. Education support staff do not even get the full LWA they should be entitled to because of term time only contracts.

9 - 10 am Joint Lobby at the Town Hall, Upper Street
speakers will include:

10:30 assembly for 11:15 start.
Lincolns Inn Fields - march to Kennington Oval Cricket Ground
There will a joint Islington group with members from NASUWT, NUT and UNISON marching together. We will meet at the metal sculpture in the NE corner of the field close to Great Turnstile/New Row. Musical instuments welcome.
